Governance

How decisions are made

Gift acceptance is a governed decision, not a judgment call made by whoever answered the phone.

Separation of roles

The person who intakes a gift is not the person who approves it. Each review passes through defined roles, and every status change, note and document is recorded with the user and time attached.

Intake

Receives the review request, confirms ownership and contact details, and gathers the basic facts of the asset.

Reviewer

Works the substantive questions: condition, encumbrances, carrying cost, marketability and any operational obligations.

Legal and compliance

Examines title, authority to convey, regulatory matters, environmental findings and documentation adequacy.

Board administrator

Prepares the matter for the governing body, records its decision and issues written acceptance or declination.

System administrator

Maintains access controls, audit history and records retention across the review system.

Written acceptance

No gift is accepted verbally, by email confirmation of receipt, or by implication from a site visit. Acceptance exists only in a signed writing issued after governing-body review.

Conflicts of interest

Anyone with a personal or financial interest in a proposed gift discloses it and is removed from the decision. That includes relationships with brokers, buyers, lenders or service providers connected to the asset.

Independent professionals

Title, environmental, valuation and legal work is performed by qualified independent professionals. Mustard Farms does not perform appraisals and does not value a donor's deduction.

Records and audit history

Each review retains its documents, status history, correspondence log and decision record. Donors and their advisers may ask what stage a matter is in and who holds it.

Pending organizational disclosures

The incorporated legal name, EIN, tax-status statement, state charitable registrations, governing-body roster and donation-deductibility language are held as launch-blocking items and are not published until authorized documentation is supplied and entered by an administrator. Nothing on this site should be read as a representation about tax status or deductibility.

Mustard Farms does not provide legal, tax, appraisal or financial advice. Proposed gifts are subject to legal, financial, title, environmental, operational and governing-body review and written acceptance. Donors should consult independent advisers.
